Every piece of furniture tells a story. Ours began in Jodhpur, Rajasthan—the heart of India's handicraft industry. In 2017, I started learning the raw mechanics of furniture making from the ground up. Three years of hands-on experience taught me to read grain patterns, understand how wood responds to moisture, and master traditional Indian polishing techniques. That obsession with quality became the foundation for everything we create today.

In 2020, I founded Mahakriti Design. A friend in Melbourne ordered a container of Indian furniture, and that's when reality hit. International export logistics proved far more complex than I imagined—customs, freight, secure packing for rough seas. I made mistakes and learned the hard way. But that container arrived safely, proving we could meet global standards.

Right as we found our footing, the pandemic struck. The world shut down, international shipping rates skyrocketed, and global orders evaporated overnight. Suddenly, I was facing mounting factory overheads and a team of artisans who depended on me to feed their families.

To survive, we pivoted. We stopped exporting directly and started supplying high-end furniture to other established exporters in Jodhpur. We worked on razor-thin margins and extended long credit lines just to keep the machines running and our craftsmen employed. It was a stressful, exhausting three years—but it kept our craftsmanship alive.

Why shouldn't Indian homes have access to the exact same world-class quality we export to the rest of the globe?

As the world reopened in 2023, I noticed a frustrating paradox. The incredibly high-quality, solid wood furniture we were manufacturing in Jodhpur was all being loaded into containers and shipped to homes in America, Europe, and Australia.

Meanwhile, back home in India, online marketplaces were flooded with cheap, engineered particle-board furniture. Mass-market brands were taking the Indian customer for a ride—using inferior wood, toxic low-grade polishes, and flimsy fabrics, while hiding it behind glossy filters. The typical Indian customer wanted beautiful homes but didn't know they were buying furniture built to last only two years.

I asked myself a simple question: Why shouldn't Indian homes have access to the exact same world-class quality we export to the rest of the globe?

That question changed everything. I stepped away from the export business to build Pure Accents—a direct-to-consumer brand dedicated exclusively to the Indian homeowner.

We started small, taking custom orders from friends, family, and word-of-mouth clients over WhatsApp. I wanted to prove that if you offer an Indian consumer honest, premium solid wood, world-class polish, and luxury fabrics at a fair price point—without the inflated showroom markups—they will see the difference.

Today, in 2026, we are officially launching the Pure Accents website. We are bypassing the middlemen, cutting out the corporate overhead, and bringing Jodhpur’s finest, export-grade furniture directly from our workshop floor to your living room.
